Student Parking

Students

All vehicles, except motorcycles and bicycles, parking on SCCC campus must display a valid parking permit. Due to our urban location, parking is very limited at Seattle Central Community College. There are two types of parking permits available to students: daytime (all-day) permit and evening (afternoon) permit. For transportation purposes, evening parking is defined as parking during the hours from noon until closing time.

Student Daytime Parking

Due to our limited parking resources, student daytime parking is only available to students through a PARKING LOTTERY. All interested students, including prospective students, are eligible to enter their names in the parking lottery at any time during the lottery registration period. Please complete the Student Parking Lottery Form and submit it to Transportation Services Office, room BE1112. Only one entry per student is needed. Duplicate entries will be automatically eliminated.

The lottery registration periods and deadlines for the academic year 08-09 are listed as follows:

QuarterEntries AcceptedWinners Posted
Fall 2008August 1 – September 12, 2008September 15, 2008
Winter 2009November 3 – December 5, 2008December 8, 2008
Spring 2009February 2 – March 13, 2009March 16, 2008

Approximately 300 student names (winners) will be selected at random each quarter for eligibility to purchase the daytime parking permit. The list of winners of the parking lottery will be posted in Transportation Services Office (room BE1112) and at the Cashier window. Winners will also be notified via email if an email address is provided on the entry form. Winners of the lottery will have until the tenth instructional day of the quarter to purchase a parking permit. A student must be enrolled and paid all tuitions before being able to purchase a parking permit.

EXCEPTION: There is no "parking lottery" during summer quarters. Student parking is generally available for all interested students. All summer parking permits are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Student Evening Parking

The evening permit is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The evening permit is valid for classes beginning at noon and after only (including evening classes). Students may purchase an evening permit directly at the Cashier Office, on a first-come, first-served basis. Please make sure to complete the Student Evening Parking Application and prepare to show your picture ID when purchasing your parking permit. A student must be enrolled and paid all tuitions before being able to purchase a parking permit.

Evening parking permits are usually available for purchase one month prior to the start of the quarter. Students are encouraged to buy their parking permits as early as possible to avoid the long wait lines during the first week of the quarter.

Student Carpool Parking

Beginning Fall Quarter 2006, Seattle Central Community College no longer requires students to be in a carpool to get on-campus parking. Carpool, however, is strongly encouraged and available to interested students. Carpool parking is FREE to qualified students, during designated hours from 7 AM to 9 AM, Monday through Friday. A permit is NOT required. Students who are not chosen through the lottery are encouraged to form carpools for their parking needs. NOTE: All carpool parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The availability of space is not guaranteed.

A student carpool requires:

  • A minimum of three (3) currently enrolled SCCC students (children in the daycare program do not qualify/count as carpool partners under our parking program).
  • All three (3) members of the carpool must be PRESENT in the vehicle upon entering Harvard Parking Garage.
  • FREE carpool parking is only available between 7 AM and 9 AM, daily. After 9 AM, depending on space availability, vehicles without a parking permit will be charged the regular daily parking permit fee for on-campus parking. Current daily parking fees are $7 during the morning hours, and $4 during the afternoon/evening hours.

Disabled / Handicapped Parking

Students with a physical disability, or those who need special accommodations, should contact Transportation Services Office for alternative parking arrangements. Special considerations are given to students who currently possess a Washington State-issued handicapped decal or a doctor's note, detailing the medical or physically challenged condition(s).

Refunds of Parking Permit

  • FULL REFUND, less $5 fee, if returned before the 6th instructional day of the quarter – FIRST WEEK
  • 50% REFUND, if returned between the sixth (6th) and the fifteenth (15th) instructional day – THIRD WEEK
  • NO REFUND after the fifteenth (15th) instructional day of the quarter – AFTER THIRD WEEK

Lost / Stolen / Misplaced Parking Permit

SCCC Transportation Services Office and management are not responsible for lost, stolen, or misplaced parking permit. PLEASE TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR PERMIT. Replacement policy is as follows:

  • Daytime parking: Due to limited parking availability, there is NO REPLACEMENT for lost/stolen/misplaced daytime parking permit.
  • Evening parking: Depending on availability, an EVENING parking permit may be replaced by paying a replacement fee of $20.
