How to find Campus Safety & Security
Come to the Security Office in Room BE1108 on the main campus. Our office is across from "The Buzz" Espresso Stand.
The Seattle Central College Public Safety Department places students, faculty, and staff at the center of all it does. In order to support the Strategic Plan of the College, the Seattle Central College Public Safety Department is committed to providing safety and other services to the campus community to promote a safe and secure atmosphere where educational pursuits are able to flourish in an environment that exudes professionalism, respect for the diverse campus community, and provides access to high–quality programs.
Emergency Call Stations
To help our students, faculty, staff and the community stay safe, new emergency call stations have been installed in seven locations around campus. These include three wall-mounted call stations and four blue call station towers. With just the touch of a button, the call stations will connect you directly with Seattle Central's Public Safety department in case of an emergency.
Call station features
- Two–way communication – Call stations are equipped with a two-way communication system that allows people to talk directly with Seattle Central's Public Safety department 24 hours a day, seven days a week. (Please note that calls will not connect directly to 911; the Public Safety officer who answers will contact 911 if warranted).
- Lights – When a user presses the emergency button, the call stations emit bright flashing lights to attract attention to the area.
- Cameras – All call stations are equipped with surveillance cameras, which may deter crime by recording details of criminal activity to assist with investigations. Generally, the cameras will not be monitored in real time by staff.
- Integration with alert system – The call stations are connected to the Seattle Colleges Alerts system, which allows the college or the District to broadcast audible emergency messages via the stations.
How to Use
- Each call station (either a silver wall–mounted box or a blue tower) has a red emergency call button; pressing this button will activate flashing blue lights and connect you directly to Seattle Central's Public Safety department (in the event a Public Safety officer cannot answer, calls will be routed to a 24/7 monitoring center, which can provide assistance such as calling 911).
- Callers should speak clearly into the speaker and communicate all details about their emergency.
- Public Safety officers (and the monitoring center) will know which call station is in use, but callers should provide detailed information about the nature and location of their situation (the emergency may not be at the call station).

- At four points around the Broadway–Edison building
- Near the new Readerboard
- Outside the Science and Math building
- Outside the Mitchell Activity Center
