| Tracy Lai began teaching at SCCC in 1984 as an adjunct
and earned full-time tenured status in 1995. Her B.A. in Third
World Literature and Ethnic Studies is from Brown University and UC
Berkeley and M.Ed. in Multicultural Studies from University of
Washington. Her activism began in Asian student organizing and
continues today in her own union, American Federation of Teachers.
Tracy is interested in community-based and oral histories. She
earned certification from the University of Washington's Family and
Genealogy History program and trained as an oral history interviewer for Densho,
Japanese American History project . These methods and perspectives were put
to use in SCCC's Student Success Stories and Critical Moments case
stories. Her collaboration with Michael Liu and Kim Geron,
The Snakedance of Asian American Activism, 1945-2000, will be
published by Lexington (Rowan and Littlefield) in 2008. |
