• Make adaptations to make it work properly

• Add features so long as it is not sold or given without permission

• Make copy in the process of authorized repair

Cannot

• Load a program on more than one machine (see license)

• Assume if you buy, you own (usually leased)

• Assume shareware is not copyrighted
