Instructor Biography
Jim Hubert took his Master of Arts in Economics at the University of Washington in 1973. He has a BA Degree in Business Administration, also from the University of Washington. Hubert currently is a tenured faculty member at Seattle Central, where he teaches economics and statistics. He has taught Money and Banking at the University of Puget Sound and Real Estate Appraising at Seattle University and Seattle Pacific University. Hubert has nearly 17 years in the banking profession, including positions as Vice President and Economist for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle, Executive Vice President of the Washington Credit Union League, and President of CU Financial Services, Inc., a mortgage banking firm.
Update: A student evaluation from Spring 2007
described the instructor as “curt.” I
prefer to think of this attribute as “efficient” and you may recognize it in my
responses to student questions.

Participation Policy
Students are expected to
participate in a variety of group activities throughout the course. These
group activities will be outlined in the weekly assignments. Ad hoc
assignments may be posted periodically.
Note: Your analysis and responses to assignments and issues should
reflect economic theory…. not personal opinions.

Students have the responsibility to study and learn all material assigned, submit homework, discussion questions, and other assignments in a timely fashion, and prepare for tests.

* I typically respond to student questions and comments within 24 hours. (I do, however, occasionally take weekend breaks.)
